Pilot Plant Progress: Key Milestones Reached in July

SHARE

This last month has seen a major milestone achieved at our Hydrilyte® Technology Pilot (HTP) in Kwinana, as our pilot plant was delivered to site for final assembly.

Commencement of Site Visits by Carbon280 CEO

Late in June, Our CEO, Mark Rheinlander, conducted an initial site visit to see the plant arrive. The HTP skid was successfully delivered and mechanical completion has progressed extremely well. While wet weather has caused some small delays to electrical completion we’re just weeks away from the plant commissioning in August with our test program due to commence in September!

Arrival of Critical Components on Site

Throughout July we received additional components on site, including the controls and utilities containers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Aussie Fluid Power, for their mechanical engineering support, I&E Systems Pty Ltd, for controls and instrumentation, and Imperium Engineering for their expertise in electrical engineering. We are grateful for the support from the team!

Safety and precision are a key focus for the pilot. This month saw the arrival of our custom-built gas analyser. The gas analyser monitors HTP’s gas streams, providing real time hydrogen purity data. Hydrogen purity is a key advantage of Hydrilyte®, because its reversible hydrogenation reaction works without cracking, meaning the released hydrogen has minimal contaminants, reducing the need for costly purification, unlike LOHCs or ammonia.

In our lab, we’ve boosted our capabilities with a new particle size analyser. This tool significantly increases our team’s experimental pace by eliminating reliance on external labs for particle size analysis. Managing particle size and distribution is an important part of our proprietary Hydrilyte® conditioning process.

What’s Expected in August

During August we expect to complete mechanical and electrical completion and start our plant commissioning process.

On the 18th August we are holding our official HTP Launch event, with the opening by WA’s Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation – Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA
